Thanksgiving Montessori 3 Part Cards
Happy Autumn! One of the best tools in Montessori education are 3 part cards or nomenclature cards! They teach children that objects are represented by words. Each set includes three cards. The control card (which includes image and image word), followed by two cards (one of the image alone and the other of the matching word alone). Three part cards can be used with teacher and/or caregiver and child.
How to use:
There are various ways to use them for fun and learning. Here are a few ways.
- For children 1-3 years old: The control cards can be used as flashcards to build vocabulary and begin to associate words to images.
- For children 3-6 years old: An image card is placed down and stated, followed by the word card which is placed underneath the image. The final card (the control card) is placed to the right of the other two cards. Children can then work alone to match words to the images and use the control cards when finished to check their work.
